Sony Closes Five Additional Plants
March 25, 2011

Sony announced on March 22, 2011 that the company decides to reduce or suspend production at five more plants in central and southern Japan between March 22 and March 31, according to Reuters. It is reported that these plants are closed for the time being due to insufficient supply of components and materials. The five plants manufacture cameras, camcorders, LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs, mobile phones, headphones, microphones, and broadcasting equipment, according to the same source. Sony said the company is considering any possible measures, including shifting production overseas temporarily, if components and material shortages persist.
